Jared Fogle
Jared Scott Fogle, 40, was formerly the “Subway guy,” a pitchman for Subway sandwiches. He represented Subway for 15 years, from 2000 to 2015. In 2004, Fogle established the Jared Foundation, focused on raising awareness of childhood obesity.
In the end, Fogle was investigated for paying for sex with minors and receiving child porn in 2015. On August 19, 2015, he pled guilty to possessing and distributing child porn and for traveling to pay for sex with minors between 2010 and 2013, when he traveled to New York to engage in sexual relations with two 17 year old girls.
Prosecutors alleged that Fogle paid adult prostitutes a finder’s fee for sourcing underage children for him. Prosecutors noted that Fogle exchanged text messages with a madame, a female pimp, saying that he would “pay big” if she could procure 14 year old children, saying that he “craved” underage Asian girls. He also expressed interest in young boys.
A story on USA Today quotes a charging document stating that Fogle first acquired child porn in March, 2011 from a “friend” who sent it by text message and via a thumb drive. Some of the images portrayed children as young as age 6.
On April 29, 2015, the director of the Jared Foundation, Mr. Russell Taylor, was arrested at his home in Indianapolis on charges of child exploitation, possession of child porn, and voyeurism charges. Fogle severed ties to him.
Taylor attempted suicide on May 6, 2015, at Marion County Jail and was placed on life support. He pled guilty to charges on September 1, 2015, and was seated to 27 years in federal prison on December 10, 2015.

On November 19, 2015, Fogle was sentenced to 15 years and 8 months in federal prison, with no eligibility for parole until 13 years are served.
Fogle must register as a sexual offender for life, remain on permanent probation for life, and submit to treatment for sexual disorders. His electronic devices must be monitored for life.
US District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt noted, “The level of perversion and lawlessness exhibited by Mr. Fogle is extreme.” Reviewing his case, Judge Pratt noted that Mr. Fogle possessed pornographic images of children as young as age 6. She also admonished the defense, saying “there’s no such thing as being a mild pedophile. That’s not a diagnosis.”
The Marion County special victim’s team chief, Courtney Curtis, said: “You are either a pedophile or you aren’t. It’s not something you can dabble in.”
Prosecutors alleged that Mr. Fogle offered $300 for sex with a 15 year old girl who could prove her age. “It’s what I crave,” he was quoted. He also paid for sex with underage 16 and 17 year old prostitutes in “upscale hotels,” in New York City. These hotels were later revealed to be The Plaza and the Ritz Carlton.
A brief filed by prosecutors after Fogle appealed his sentence was posted on the web page of CBS News.
It turns out that Fogle first came to the attention of law enforcement in 2007 when reporter Rochelle Herman-Walron advised police that Fogle had made salacious comments to her about middle school girls at a school event that she covered for local media.
Then she went to the FBI. The feds asked her to wear a wire, and after “befriending Fogle,” she taped conversations with him for the next 4 years.
Fogle was recorded making multiple comments about sex with underage girls and he actually asked Mrs. Herman-Walron to install webcams in the bedrooms of her children so that he could observe them.
“What if we, what if we put a camera in your kid’s room, would they be okay with that? “Would you rather have it in your son or your daughter’s room? Which one do you think would be better?”
In the course of the FBI investigation, authorities realized that Fogle and Russell traded sexually explicit photos and videos of children, some as young as 6 years old.
One thumb drive seized from Mr. Taylor contained “commercially made child pornography from Eastern Europe.” More than “400 videos” containing child porn were seized. Bestiality was also found, including one video of a dog licking the genitals of an adult woman.
On July 7, 2015, FBI and Indiana State Police raided Fogle’s residence, seizing all his electronic devices.
